Breeze Café

Breeze Café is located on Level 2 of the hospital’s main block, providing a welcoming space for staff, patients, and visitors. The retail section operates daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, while the seating area remains open 24/7 for staff. Guests can enjoy a comfortable environment with freshly prepared meals and snacks throughout the day.

Menu Offerings

The café offers fresh, nutritious meals throughout the day. Breakfast includes a full English, cereals, and fruit pots. Lunch features rotating specials like Curry Mondays, Chinese Thursdays, and Fish & Chips Fridays. The deli bar (11:30 AM – 2:00 PM) serves freshly made sandwiches, salads, and deli items, alongside a customisable salad bar. Guests can also enjoy homemade cakes, signature ice cream, and a selection of confectionery.

Coffee Pod is located on Level 3 near the main entrance, offering a cozy space for staff, patients, and visitors. The retail section operates from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends. Guests can enjoy a relaxed setting with high-quality barista-made coffee and a selection of fresh snacks throughout the day.

The Coffee Pod serves a variety of barista-made coffees, including seasonal and specialty blends. A selection of homemade sandwiches, fresh salads, and cakes is available, with dairy-free milk alternatives and gluten-free or vegetarian snacks catering to various dietary needs. Whether stopping for a quick break or enjoying a relaxed moment, guests can expect fresh, high-quality options.

Takeaway options allow for quick service, making it easy to grab coffee or snacks on the go. The seating area provides a comfortable space with free Wi-Fi access. Multiple payment methods are accepted, ensuring a smooth and convenient experience for visitors.

Vending Services

Vending machines are conveniently located across the hospital, providing 24/7 access to hot coffee, cold beverages, snacks, and ready-to-eat meals. Coffee vending machines can be found on Level 3 in the Outpatients Department, the Ground Floor of the Women’s Hospital, and within Breeze Café on Level 2. A partnership with COOK offers high-quality microwavable meals, available in Breeze Café during and outside regular hours. Additional snack and drink vending machines are placed next to the coffee machines for added convenience, ensuring quick and easy refreshments for staff, patients, and visitors.

Compliance

The catering department strictly follows all NHS England regulations, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and nutritional compliance. A dedicated Catering Liaison Officer oversees adherence to these standards, ensuring meals meet the required guidelines for patient care, staff dining, and visitor services. The department has been awarded a 5-star rating by the Environmental Health Office (EHO), reflecting its commitment to excellence in food hygiene and safety.

Food Safety & Training

All catering staff hold Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification, while management staff are trained at Level 3 and 4. Strict food safety protocols, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), are in place to prevent contamination and maintain quality.

Monitoring & Quality Assurance

A Catering Liaison Officer is in place to oversee compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. Regular in-ward audits and compliance checks are conducted to maintain high food safety and hygiene standards. External regulatory audits further ensure ongoing adherence to NHS guidelines. These continuous monitoring processes guarantee the safe delivery of food services across all hospital catering outlets.
